Help With Java Web Start

Install java version 1.4 or later. If not already installed, you can get it here
Install and Configure Java Web Start
- Make sure that /tools/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/bin is in your PATH
- Extract and install javaws:
  1. mkdir ~/src (if necessary)
  2. cd ~/src
  3. unzip /tools/java/j2sdk1.4.1_01/jre/javaws-1_2_0_01-linux-i586-i.zip
  4. ./install.sh (asks for path to java installation, creates ~/src/javaws/javaws)
Navigator and mozilla mime types assignment (needed sometimes)
- extension: jnlp
- mime-type: application/x-java-jnlp-file
- application: /users/YOU/src/javaws/javaws
Turn web proxies off: Many ISB staff use a UW library proxy with their web browser. You must turn this off in order use Java Web Start.
